Three New Assistant Professors at American University

The College of Arts and Sciences at American University in Washington, D.C., has added 16 new faculty members this fall. Only three of the new additions are women.

Naima Hachad was appointed an assistant professor of world languages and cultures. She was an assistant professor of foreign languages at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. A graduate of the Universite de Provence, she holds a Ph.D. in French from Emory University in Atlanta.

Karen Knee is a new assistant professor of environmental science. She was a postdoctoral fellow at the Smithsonian Research Center. A graduate of Brown University, Dr. Knee holds a Ph.D. in geological and environmental science from Stanford University.

Li Wong was named an assistant professor of literature. A graduate of the National Central University of Taiwan, she earned a master’s degree and recently completed her Ph.D. in comparative literature from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
