Margie Huerta Announces She Will Step Down as President of Dona Ana Community College

Margie_HuertaMargie C. Huerta, president of Dona Ana Community College in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has announced her retirement. Dunring a transition the new leadership, she will continue to serve as president throughout 2013. The two-year educational institution is part of the New Mexico State University system. Since Dr. Huerta was named president of the community college in 2004, enrollments have increased from 6,000 to more than 9,800.

“Serving as president of DACC has been the highest honor of my career,” Huerta said. “I want to thank the students, faculty, staff and all our benefactors for the strong support they have given me and our college.”

Dr. Huerta holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University. She earned a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from New Mexico State University.
