Four Women Named to Dean Posts

grillotSuzette Grillot was appointed dean of the College of International Studies at the University of Oklahoma. She has served as interim dean since July 1 and previously was associate dean for four years. She will also hold the William J. Crowe Jr. Chair in Geopolitics and serve as vice provost for international programs.

Dr. Grillot holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Oklahoma State University and earned a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Georgia.

HooperCelia R. Hooper is the new dean of the School of Health and Human Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She has been the acting dean of the school since its creation last year. She will continue to teach as a full professor in the school.

Dr. Hooper is a graduate of Wake Forest University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Ph.D. in speech and hearing sciences from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

rachel-van-cleaveRachel Van Cleave was promoted to dean of the Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco. She has been a professor of law at the school since 2004 and served as associate dean of academic affairs since 2008.

Professor Van Cleave holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University. She is a graduate of the Hastings College of Law of the University of California.

Elrod 08Susan Elrod was named dean of the College of Science and Mathematics at Fresno State University in California. She is the former executive director of Project Kaleidoscope of the Association of American Colleges and Universities and former professor of biological sciences at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo. She will take office on January 14.

Dr. Elrod is a graduate of California State University at Chico and holds a Ph.D. in genetics from the University of California at Davis.
