In Memoriam: Michelle Meyers, 1961-2012

Michelle Meyers, the former director of the Office of Equal Opportunity at Emory University, died late last month after suffering from cancer. She was 51 years old.

Meyers was named director of equal opportunity programs in 2008. At Emory, she was responsible for compliance with federal and state affirmative action regulations and was an advocate for diversity within the Emory community. Prior to taking her post at Emory, Meyers was director of equal opportunity and affirmative action at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She had taught undergraduate courses at Dartmouth College, the State University of New York at Cortland, the University of California at Irvine, and the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Meyers was a graduate of Dartmouth College and held a master’s degree from Stanford University.
