In Memoriam: Marjorie R. Kaufman, 1922-2012

Marjorie Kaufman, professor emerita of English at Mount Holyoke College, died late last month at the age of 90.

Dr. Kaufman joined the faculty at Mount Holyoke in 1954. After retiring from teaching she was a co-founder of the Five College Learning in Retirement Program. She was elected as a county commissioner at the age of 73 and served from 1995 to 1998. She was active in a local book reading club even after her 90th birthday.

Professor Kaufman received degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Washington and held a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Minnesota.
