Four Women in New Teaching Roles at the University of San Diego

The School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego has announced several appointments and promotions of women faculty members.

Ann F. Garland was appointed professor and chair of the department of school, family, and mental health professions. She was a professor of psychiatry at the University of California at San Diego.

Dr. Garland is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. She holds a master’s degree from Columbia University and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

Sarina Chugani Molina was named assistant professor in the department of learning and teaching. She has taught at Palomar College, Mira Costa College, and Chaminade University.

Dr. Molina holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Hawaii and an educational doctorate from the University of San Diego.

Heather Lattimer was promoted to associate professor and chair of the department of learning and teaching. She is working to create an online master’s degree program in education.

Dr. Lattimer is a graduate of Harvard University. She earned a master’s degree at Stanford University and an educational doctorate at the University of California at San Diego.

Joi A. Spencer was promoted to associate professor in the department of learning and teaching. Her research is focused on improving mathematics teaching in inner-city schools.

Dr. Spencer holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stanford University. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of California at Los Angeles.
