Women Enrollments: CalTech vs. MIT

The California Institute of Technology in Pasadena is one of the most prestigious institutions of higher education in the United States. CalTech is particularly strong in the natural sciences and engineering, fields in which women have traditionally been underrepresented. This fall, the first-year class at CalTech has 264 students. There are 98 women who make up 37.1 percent of the first-year class.

At CalTech’s East Coast counterpart, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, women make up 46 percent of the 1,138-member first year class.
