Ten Women Taking on New Administrative Roles in Higher Education

Barbara Mink was appointed director of the Community College Leadership Program at the University of Texas at Austin. The program is a concentration in the graduate program in higher education leadership.

Dr. Link is a clinical professor in the College of Education at the university and is chair of the board of trustees of the Austin Community College District. She holds a doctorate in educational administration from Duke University.

Yvonne Ng was named interim executive director of the National Center for STEM Elementary Education at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She joined the faculty at St. Catherine University in 2000 and has taught computer science and mathematics.

A graduate of Princeton University, Professor Ng holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Janet Kistner was appointed associate vice president for academic affairs at Florida State University. She is a Distinguished Research Professor and chair of the department of psychology at the university. She has served on the Florida State faculty since 1980. Dr. Kistner is the former associate editor of the Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology.

Professor Kistner is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Binghamton University of the State University of New York system.

Jennifer Tucker was named interim director of the Allbritton Center for the Study of Public Life at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. She is chair of the university’s feminist, gender, and sexuality studies program, associate professor of history, and associate professor of science in society at Wesleyan. She is the author of Nature Exposed: Photography as Eyewitness in Victorian Science (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2006).

Dr. Tucker holds a master’s degree from the University of Cambridge and a Ph.D. in the history of science, medicine, and technology from Johns Hopkins University.

Rebecca Dillingham is the new director of the Center for Global Health at the University of Virginia. She joined the faculty in 2006 and serves as a professor of medicine.

Dr. Dillingham is a graduate of Harvard University. She earned a master of public health degree from the University of Virginia and is a summa cum laude graduate of the medical school of the University of Missouri at Columbia.

Anita Hanson was named disability specialist at North Dakota State University. She was interim dean of students at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet, Minnesota.

Hanson is a graduate of North Dakota State University and holds a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Minnesota at Duluth.

Kristen Bertell is the new associate vice chancellor of health science development at the University of California at San Diego. Since 2011, she has been serving as executive director of development for principal gifts at the university’s health sciences division.

Bertell is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles and holds a master’s degree in communications management from the University of Southern California.

Angela McMillan was appointed secretary/treasurer of the International Association of Black Anthropologists. She is an assistant professor in the department of sociology and anthropology at Morgan State University in Baltimore.

Dr. McMillan is a graduate of Morgan State University and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in anthropology from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Marilyn Rugg was appointed to a three-year term as associate vice provost for equity and diversity at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. Dr. Rugg is a professor of Romance languages and literatures at Colgate.

Professor Rugg holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Cornell University. She earned a master of social work degree from Marywood University and a Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University.

Jeannette M. Rork was named registrar and director of institutional research at Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is the former associate registrar for the School of Arts and Sciences and registrar for the School of Divinity at Wake Forest University.

Rork is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She holds a master’s degree in religion from Wake Forest University.
