Lafayette College Adds Five Women to Its 215-Member Faculty

Lafayette College, the highly rated liberal arts institution in Easton, Pennsylvania, has hired seven new scholars to its 215-member faculty. Five of the new hires are women.

Rachel Brummel was appointed assistant professor of environmental studies. She earned her Ph.D. in conservation biology at the University of Minnesota where she taught courses in environmental policy and conservation biology.

Julia Nicodemus is an assistant professor of engineering studies. She holds a master’s degree in education from Brooklyn College of the City University of New York system and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Clara Valdan0-Lopez was hired as an assistant professor of foreign languages and literatures. She has taught at the Universidad San Francisco de Quito in Ecuador. Dr. Valdano-Lopez holds a Ph.D. in Spanish American literature from the University of Illinois.

Neha Vora was named assistant professor of anthropology and sociology. She was an assistant professor of anthropology and women’s and gender studies at Texas A&M University. She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California at Irvine.

Wendy Wilson-Fall was appointed associate professor and chair of Africana studies. She was an associate professor and chair of Pan African studies at Kent State University in Ohio. Prior to joining the faculty at Kent State, Dr. Wilson-Fall was the director of the West African Research Center in Dakar, Senegal.

Dr. Wilson-Fall earned a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in social anthropology and African studies at Howard University. She holds a master’s degree from Ahmadu Bello University in Nigeria.
