Two Women Promoted to the Rank of Distinguished Professor at the University of New Mexico

The University of New Mexico has announced that seven faculty members have been promoted to the rank of Distinguished Professor. Two of the seven honored with the new title are women.

Marianne Berwick is the new Distinguished Professor of Epidemiology. She has led the university’s programs in epidemiology, biostatistics, and preventative medicine since 2004. Her research focuses on the prevention of melanoma.

Dr. Berwick holds master’s and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University.

Jane B. Lancaster, was named Distinguished Professor of Anthropology. Professor Lancaster has taught at the University of New Mexico since 1985.

Dr. Lancaster, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley, is the editor of the journal Human Nature: An Interdisciplinary Biosocial Perspective.
