The Author of the Year’s Best Ph.D. Dissertation in Multimedia Computing

Wanmin Wu, a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Wireless and Population Health Systems at the University of California at San Diego, was judged to have written the best doctoral dissertation in the world in the field of multimedia computing by the Special Interest Group on Multimedia of the Association for Computing Machinery.

Dr. Wu is being honored for her thesis entitled, “Human-Centric Control of Video Functions and Underlying Resources in 3D Tele-Immersive Systems,” which she completed at the University of Illinois. She will receive the award at the 20th annual meeting of ACM Multimedia in Nara, Japan, this January.

Dr. Wu earned her bachelor’s degree in computer science at Zhejiang University in China.
