Diana Wall Is the 2012 Mines Medalist

Diana Wall, professor of biology and director of the School of Global Environmental Sustainability at Colorado State University, has been named the 2012 Mines Medalist, an honor bestowed by the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology on engineers and scientists who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and innovation.

Dr. Wall has conducted more than 25 expeditions to Antarctica, where Wall Valley has been named in her honor. There she has conducted research on soil biodiversity and ecosystem processes as they relate to world climate change.

Dr. Wall, holds a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in plant pathology from the University of Kentucky.
