The University of Nevada School of Medicine recently held its annual White Coat Ceremony to induct new students into the medical program at the university. This year, there are 69 new medical students at the University of Nevada, up from 62 a year ago.

The new medical students range in age from 18 to 45. Unlike many medical schools across the nation, men hold a large lead over women in new entrants at the University of Nevada School of Medicine. In this year’s entering class, there are 47 men and only 22 women. Thus, women are 31.9 percent of the entering class.

According to the Association of American Medical Colleges, nationwide women are 47.0 percent of all first-year medical students.
