Salem College Names Two Women to Department Chairs

Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has announced the appointment of two women to department chairs.

Kim Varnadoe was named chair of the department of art. Professor Varnadoe is a graduate of University of South Alabama. She holds a master of fine arts degree from Memphis State University.

Mary Jacobsen is the new chair of the department of psychology. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of St. Thomas.

In addition to the new department chairs, Mary Ann Davis was named interim director of the department of teacher education.

The college also announced several appointments in women’s studies. Jo Dulan was appointed coordinator of the women’s studies program. Aimee Mepham was named interim director of the Center for Women Writers and Rebeccca Dunn is the new director of the Women in Science and Mathematics Program.
