Mary Ann Samym Wins the 2012 FIELD Poetry Prize

Mary Ann Samyn, associate professor of English and the Bolton Professor for Teaching and Mentoring at West Virginia University, has been named the recipient of the 2012 FIELD Poetry Prize by the editors of the Oberlin College Press.

Professor Samyn will receive a cash award and her poetry collection, My Life in Heaven, will be published by Oberlin College Press in the spring of 2013. Her previous collections include Captivity Narrative (Ohio State University Press, 1999), Inside the Yellow Dress (New Issues, 2001), Purr (New Issues, 2005), and Beauty Breaks In (New Issues, 2009).

Professor Samyn holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Virginia.
