A Trio of New Deans

Deborah Lowe Vandell was named the inaugural dean of the School of Education at the University of California at Irvine. Since 2006, she has been chair of the department of education at the university. Previously, she was the Sears-Bascom Professor of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dr. Vandell is a magna cum laude graduate of Rice University in Houston. She holds a master’s degree in education from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in psychology from Boston University.

Patricia K. Ravert was named dean of the College of Nursing at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She joined the faculty at the university in 1999 and was recently named a full professor.

Dr. Ravert was the valedictorian of her class at Brigham Young University. She also earned a master’s degree at BYU and a doctorate at the University of Utah.

Amy Moll was appointed dean of the College of Engineering at Boise State University in Idaho. She has been serving as interim dean since 2011 and is chair of the college’s materials science and engineering program.

After a career working for Hewlett-Packard, Dr. Moll joined the Boise State faculty in 2000. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
