Two Women Named to Associate Dean Positions at Pomona College

Pomona College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Claremont, California, has announced that two faculty members will become associate deans while maintaining a lessened teaching role.

Jill S. Grigsby, the Richard Steele Professor of Social Sciences and professor of sociology, was appointed associate dean for curriculum initiatives. Professor Grigsby joined the Pomona faculty in 1983.

Professor Grigsby is a graduate of Brown University where she majored in applied mathematics. She earned a Ph.D. in sociology and demography at Princeton University.

Nicole Weekes is a professor of neuroscience at Pomona. She was named associate dean for faculty development and diversity. She joined the Pomona faculty in 1998. Her research focuses on the psychological and biological responses to stress.

Professor Weekes is a graduate of Boston University and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
