George Washington University Professor Honored by the Toni Morrison Society

Carolyn Denard and Evelyn Jaffe Schreiber

Evelyn Jaffe Schreiber, professor of English at George Washington University, won the Toni Morrison Society Book Prize awarded by the Toni Morrison Society for the best book about the Nobel laureate’s work. Professor Schreiber was honored for her book, Race Trauma and Home in the Novels of Toni Morrison (Louisiana State University Press, 2010). The award, was presented to Professor Schreiber at the American Literature Association conference in San Francisco by Carolyn Denard, president of the Tony Morrison Society and member of the faculty at Emory University. The award is given out every two years.

Professor Schreiber is also the author of Subversive Voices: Eroticizing The Other In William Faulkner And Toni Morrison (University of Tennessee Press, 2002).

Dr. Schreiber holds a master’s degree from Colorado State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Colorado.
