Four Women Appointed Deans

Suzanne H. Keen, the Thomas Broadus Professor of English at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, was appointed interim dean of the college at the university. Professor Keen has also been serving as chair of the English department.

Dr. Keen has been at Washington and Lee University since 1995. She previously served on the faculty at Yale University.

Professor Keen is a graduate of Brown University and holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in English language and literature from Harvard University.

Pamela Carroll was named dean of the College of Education at Oklahoma State University. She will also serve as director of professional education and will hold a tenured appointment as a professor in the School of Teaching and Curriculum Leadership. Her appointment is effective July 1.

Previously, Dr. Carroll held two endowed chairs and was associate dean of academic affairs at the College of Education at Florida State University. She has been on the faculty at Florida State for 21 years.

Dr. Carroll holds bachelor’s and doctoral degrees from Auburn University. She also earned a master’s degree at Florida State University.

Toni Doolen was appointed dean of the Honors College at Oregon State University. Dr. Doolen is professor of engineering at the university and since 2010 has been serving as associate dean of the Honors College. She has been on the Oregon State faculty since 2001, having previously been an engineer and manager at Hewlett-Packard.

Dean Doolen is a graduate of Cornell University. She holds a master’s degree from Stanford University and a Ph.D. in industrial and manufacturing engineering from Oregon State University.

Renee Hampton is the new dean of student life at Columbus State Community College in Ohio. A staff member since 1999, she most recently served as special assistant to the provost and director of the college’s TRIO programs.

Hampton holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Bowling Green State University. She is pursuing an educational doctorate through Walden University.
