Rebecca Love Kourlis to Receive the John Marshall Award from the American Bar Association

Rebecca Love Kourlis, director of the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System (IAALS) at the University of Denver, has been selected as the winner of the 2012 John Marshall Award from the American Bar Association Justice Center. The award is given to scholars who promote justice system reform or public awareness of justice system issues. Previous winners of the award include Supreme Court justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Anthony Kennedy. Kourlis will receive the award in August in Chicago.

Kourlis is a graduate of Stanford University and Stanford’s School of Law. She served as a trial judge for seven years and in 1995 she was appointed to the Colorado Supreme Court. She founded the IAALS at the University of Denver in 2006.
