Angeline Godwin Named President of Patrick Henry Community College in Virginia

Angeline D. Godwin was appointed president of Patrick Henry Community College in Martinsville, Virginia. Her appointment is effective on July 1. The college, in south central Virginia, enrolls about 3,300 students. Women make up about 61 percent of all enrollments.

Dr. Godwin has been running a family-owned business in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She is the former president of the Ashland Community and Technical College District in Kentucky. From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Godwin was vice president for research and development at the University of Southern Mississippi. Earlier in her career, she was dean of arts and sciences at Jackson State Community College in Tennessee.

Dr. Godwin is a graduate of Gulf Coast Community College in Florida. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Troy State University in Alabama. Dr. Godwin holds master’s degrees from the University of Alabama and Florida State University, a law degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan, and a Ph.D. in English from Florida State University.
