Only One Woman Among the Six Finalists for President of the University of Nevada

The university of Nevada at Reno has announced six finalists for president of the university. All six candidates will visit campus later this month and a candidate may be recommended as early as April 18. Only one of the six finalists is a woman.

Rachel Toni Algaze Croson holds a joint appointment as a professor of management and a professor of economics at the University of Texas at Dallas. She has been on the faculty there since 2007. From 1994 to 2007, she served on the faculty at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Croson is currently on leave, serving as division director of the Division of Social and Economic Sciences at the National Science Foundation.

A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Croson holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University.

Update: Dr. Croson was not selected. The new president, announced on April 20, is Marc Johnson who has been serving as interim president since April 2011.
