Professor Lauren Lieberman Wins Two Awards for Her Work With Visually-Impaired Children

Lauren J. Lieberman, professor of adapted physical education at the College of Brockport, part of the State University of New York System, has been selected to receive the Access Award from the American Foundation for the Blind. She will receive this award in St. Petersburg, Florida, in May.

Dr. Lieberman was also named Professional of the Year by the Adapted Physical Activity Council of the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. She will receive this award later this month in Boston.

Professor Lieberman is being honored for establishing Camp Abilities Brockport, an annual one-week developmental sports camp for children who are visually impaired, blind, or deaf-blind.

Dr. Lieberman is a graduate of West Chester University in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse and a Ph.D. from Oregon State University.
