College of Business at the University of Iowa Names Its First Woman Dean

Sarah Gardial was named dean of the Henry B. Tipple College of Business at the University of Iowa. When she takes the post on July 1, she will become the first woman to lead the business school. Currently, Dr. Gardial is vice provost at the University of Tennessee’s flagship campus in Knoxville.

A native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Dr. Gardial earned a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the University of Arkansas. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Houston.

In accepting the appointment, Dr. Gardial remarked, “The college has outstanding faculty, researchers, and students and I look forward to working with them to develop a plan and a vision that builds on its tradition of excellence and achievement.”
