Alice Kaplan Named Chair of French Department at Yale University

Alice Kaplan, the John M. Musser Professor, has been named chair of the French department at Yale University. Professor Kaplan joined the faculty at Yale in 2009 after teaching for many years at Duke University. Her latest book is Dreaming in French: The Paris Years of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy, Susan Sontag, and Angela Davis (University of Chicago Press, 2012).

Dr. Kaplan is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. She holds a Ph.D. in French from Yale University.
