Council on Undergraduate Research Announces New Executive Officer

Elizabeth L. Ambos, the assistant vice chancellor for research initiatives and partnerships for the California State University System, was named executive officer of the Council on Undergraduate Research, an international not-for-profit organization dedicated to increasing research opportunities for undergraduate students. She will assume her new full-time post in May.

Prior to her appointment at the California State University System, Dr. Ambos was professor of geosciences at California State University Long Beach. There, she also served as graduate dean and associate dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Dr. Ambos is a magna cum laude graduate of Smith College. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in marine geology and geophysics from the University of Hawaii.
