Nutritionist Named to Endowed Professorship at the University of Vermont

Rachel K. Johnson was named the inaugural Robert L. Bickford Green and Gold Professor at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at the University of Vermont. Dr. Johnson has been a member of the university faculty since 1991 and served as dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences from 2001 to 2008.

This is the first endowed professorship in the 100-year history of the college. The late Robert Bickford was a 1943 graduate of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and served as chair of the board of trustees of the University of Vermont.

Professor Johnson holds bachelor’s and Ph.D. degrees in nutrition from Pennsylvania State University. She also earned a master of public health degree from the University of Hawaii. She is chair-elect of the Nutrition Committee of the American Heart Association.
