New Provosts at Grambling State and SUNY Canton

Connie Walton was named provost and vice president for academic affairs at Grambling State University in Louisiana. She has served in the post on an interim basis for the past year. She is a tenured professor of chemistry at Grambling State.

Dr. Walton is a graduate of Grambling State and holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Carli C. Schiffner was appointed provost and vice president for academic affairs at the State University of New York at Canton. Dr. Schiffner was appointed an assistant professor of history at SUNY Canton in 2003. Two years later, she was named chief of staff to the university’s president. In 2007, Dr. Schiffner left SUNY Canton to become dean of arts and sciences at Yakima Valley Community College in Washington State.

Dr. Schiffner is a graduate of Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. She earned a master’s degree at Drew University in Madison, New Jersey, and a Ph.D. at Washington State University.
