In Memoriam: Genevieve M. Casey, 1916-2012

Genevieve Casey, professor emerita of library and information science at Wayne State University in Detroit, has died at the age of 96.

A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, she moved to Detroit as a child. After earning a master degree in library science, she began her career at the Detroit Public Library, where she established the Bookmobile program. In the 1960s she served as state librarian for the state of Michigan. She returned to Detroit to join the faculty at Wayne State University.

In 2008, the Professor Genevieve M. Casey Endowed Scholars Fund was established at Wayne State University.
