Penn Professor Wins Book Award

Barbie Zelizer, the Raymond Williams Professor of Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, received the 2012 Marshall McLuhan Award for Outstanding Book in the Field of Media Ecology from the Media Ecology Association. Professor Zelizer was honored for her book About to Die: How News Images Move the Public (Oxford University Press).

Professor Zelizer is co-editor and founder of the journal Journalism: Theory, Practice, and Criticism. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
