The nonprofit Trust for the National Mall will make the final decisions on the renovations to the grounds of the monument.

Kawiaka is a registered architect and operates her own design firm in White River Junction, Vermont. She is a graduate of Smith College and earned a master’s degree in architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. She has taught at Dartmouth for the past 15 years.
